Apart from academics, the university encourages extracurricular activities. There are provisions for libraries, health centres (sports complex and gymnasium). An interesting feature is the availability of Student Cells and Committees, where students can participate in debates, quizzes, mock United Nations, mock Parliament and a lot more activities of the sort. This refreshes the minds of the students, and develops their overall skills and personality, which finally leads to a better and innovative mind.

A Student Placement Committee looks after the job placements of the students. Even in the time of recession, the students of university saw 100% placements in exemplary companies. A good education forms the basis of a good career, and that is exactly what this University offers.

Think Symbiosis Think Economics

A number of students are often uncertain of what to do after 12th. However, a large number are also banking on taking up Economics in case they cannot figure out where their aptitude truly lies. But, why is it that students regard Economics as a “safety net”? It is because Economics is one such subject, which can allow a student to pursue arts, commerce and science after 12th grade, and can account for a promising career any which way.

The question that still lurks is what exactly the career options are after graduation in Economics? The answer; there are umpteen opportunities after and under graduation in economics! Apart from the obvious option of post graduation in Economics, there are careers such as Masters of Business Economics, Indian Economic Services, International Economics, Labour Economics, Industry Economics, etc. to pursue. Most people wouldn’t have even heard of these streams, but they are fast developing into excellent career options for young Graduates.
Economics is a logic based subject, easy to understand, and fun to learn. In studying economics, one is forced to think critically, and analyse the data they are presented with. To possess the skill of comprehension is an asset to any young graduate, and Economics guarantees that. Furthermore, Economics is a very contemporary subject. It is easy to relate to the case studies involved, because they revolve around everyday happenings. This also draws students to take up Economics; the fact that they can practically apply theoretical knowledge, on a simple, daily basis.
At the Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE), the subject is taught under the Bachelors of Science. The course involves Micro economics, Macro economics, Maths & Statistics, Managerial Economics, Industrial Economics, and International Economics etc. A total of six semesters, comprising forty-five courses are covered at SSE, in the B.Sc. Economics completes the graduation course. Moreover, regular workshops for executing what the students have learnt are held at SSE regularly. Internship programmes are also looked over at by the college itself. These are important not only as learning tools, but also as recreational tools for the students.
Economics is the one subject that guarantees a bright future and an exciting career as well. Students are encouraged to opt for it!

Preparing for SET- Know More.

The Symbiosis Entrance Test, a national level aptitude test, is easy to prepare for. There is no pre-set syllabus for the SET. Students must be prepared in four categories, namely, English (grammar, language vocabulary etc.), Quantitative (basic arithmetic, basic geometry, and basic algebra), General Knowledge (current affairs, and business, health and legal awareness), and Analytical and Logical Reasoning.

The reason the Symbiosis International University (SIU) conducts the SET is to gauge the aptitude of the candidates. By clearing just one entrance, a student is eligible to apply to any of the institutes under the university, each of which holds their individual entrance tests as well.
The question is how to prepare for the SET?
The General Knowledge section is the easiest to handle. Any student well-versed with the current happenings around the world can attempt this section without any difficulty.
The English section requires a thorough knowledge of the subject. Right from basic grammar to pronunciation, a student should also be equipped with the knowledge of objective questions like sentence completion and comprehension analysis. A student should also be able to make inferences from given text and should make reference to context as and when required.
The Quantitative section of the paper brings with it, the need to be aware of the mathematics syllabus from 10th grade to 12th grade. It also requires the basic knowledge about ratios, profit & loss, percentages, linear equations, and geometry.
The Analytical and Logical section comprises of graph interpretations, bar graphs, Venn diagrams and so on. This section will basically test the logic application of the candidate.
To go about preparations for the SET, one can refer to guides and books. However, the best way to buck up for this entrance exam is to give as many tests as possible. A large number of sites on the internet provide the facility to give tests, and get immediate results. These tests not only give an accurate idea of the content of the paper, but also give the students a scope for time management, which is very important in the 150 minute SET paper.
An easy syllabus shouldn’t be taken lightly. Preparing efficiently is the key to the SET.
To register online for the SET one just has to log onto the site www.set-test.org.

A day in the life of a Student at Symbiosis Law School NOIDA

It was that feeling of not knowing what lay ahead, across that gate of my new college. I had already fallen in love with the building on my interview day. Now, even after my one semester is getting over, I suddenly experience the same feeling once again. Time went by in a snap. It was just yesterday that I was walking through those glass doors, towards the administration block, to get myself registered; that feeling of belonging somewhere, and that too in an institution this prestigious, this great. I was proud of myself. I could go out there and finally flaunt my being a part of this. So much has changed, and so much just hasn’t. I remember still being friends with the first girl at my interview, and she happens to be my best friend on campus, and my roommate. I still remember how my perception about people changed, people that I had liked at the first meeting, people that I hadn’t. Surprisingly, not much has changed about the former but the latter, I was so wrong. I have genuine people in college, people who make life fun, in every sense; people, who care, and who are always there, somewhere in the background. I remember talking about my teachers to my friends back home and in various other institutions. They are awed. The only expression that they use it is, “Wow! faculty can be that cool too?” With teachers, we students are so free, so open. Be it social networking sites, on campus gossip, or personal crisis, they are always patient enough to listen, and cool enough to guide. Studies are fun. In classes, hiding cell-phones and texting each other about how boring a topic is, or how we should just bunk the lecture and go out eat, we always end up being there, on those benches, in that class, because we feel like studying. Teachers are that good. The various activities in every course are refreshing in itself. It is fun, and it’s crazy. A change to the typical monotonous syllabus life. The computer lab is a fun place to go, even when we are tensed to the optimum level with last minute submissions of the never ending projects that we have to do. We crib and yes, we crib a lot, but at the end of the day, we love it. These things give us a hang of researching, making ourselves that apt in knowing, what lies where and what is relevant. We become self reliant and already a step closer to being almost perfect. Yes, someday we will reach there too. It’s just the very beginning. The canteen would be my second favourite place, after those stairs where we technically live; between classes, in lunch and long after the classes are done with too. The food is hot and homely, and delicious. We get things like momos too. Yeah, now beat that! Talent resides in every brick of the building, every day; I end up exploring something new. And that makes me happy. I had always wanted my college life to be the most memorable part of my life. And I am glad I took the decision to be here. To be selected was a big thing in itself and now, that I am here, still seems like a very beautiful dream. As I watch the gates of my building, smiling, hugging and high-fiving friends, my extended family in a distant land, I thank god. I am still in awe of this place and I know, for a fact, that every morning when I would enter those gates, for the next five years of my life, I would still be awed. This college is my second home, and I am lucky, it became that.
